I had a common problem for writers which is called writer's block.
I tried my best to make this new chapter so I hope you guys like it !
Perhaps the fact that life doesn’t really turn out as
beautifully as those written in fairy tales. Like the stiffness of the frozen
trees in winter, my heart was numbed by grief and was frozen to the core by
those who left me behind. Death is inevitable but for sure it does leave scars
on one’s life. The box reminded of me grief; it was when Kate held the box
cover in front of me that something captured my attention. It was a mark, the
same mark that was on Arthur’s arm.
I asked Kate if she had noticed this before, she said it has
always been that way since the day we bought the box. It’s just some random
scribbles from the design she reckoned.
I tried to trace the symbol, trying to feel if it was
engraved to the box when suddenly light began to glow from the symbol. In
seconds, suddenly the world was black again…
………………………………………………………….
I didn’t remember what happened before the darkness came to
me. Kate was sleeping on the couch and I looked over to the clock hanged on the
pale wall of the left corner of the room and saw that it was nearly 3 in the
morning. My head was throbbing so much that I could no longer bear sitting. I laid
back my head to stop myself from passing out when I suddenly heard a screeching
sound coming from the window.
The air suddenly turned cold as if winter was here again.
The shadows from the room moved as if it was alive and had a mind of its own. I
was in a panic and had no strength to scream. Suddenly everything went still as
if time stopped and I was the only one able to move, or so I thought….
A shadow began to emerge in the middle of the room and a
figure began to form. It took me a few seconds to realize that the figure was
actually a lady. Tall and lean, hair as dark as the night and emerald green
eyes that was the only thing that was glowing in the room. She just stood there
in front of me. I noticed the same tattoo on her wrist as to the one on Alex’s
right arm and the box.
My eyes widened as to realize what she might be looking for
in the room. I looked all over the room to look for the box but all I saw was
Kate on the couch, the IV and the silly monitor that used to make silly beeping
sound and now silent and pretty much like everything in the room except for me
and the girl, frozen still.
I tried not to make any sudden movements when I tried to
lift myself from the bed, then suddenly her eyes were looking straight at me.
My heartbeat tripled its pace and sweat was beginning to form on my temples. I could
feel the rush of adrenaline in my veins. She stepped closer to examine me. I
tried to be as still as everything else in the room.
Hold it… Hold it…. Her face was just in front of
mine so I tried not to breathe. Suddenly a knock on the door made her quickly
bolted to the window and just vanished in thin air.
The nurse came in to see me, thankfully she did or else who
knows what would’ve happened to me. Seems like the girl in the shadow could
only freeze time for just minutes or she could only freeze time in a limited
area. Either way her powers seemed limited.
