Divergent : The Epic Trilogy Begins

Divergent, Insurgent, Allegiant by Veronica Roth

As most of you might know, I'm not much of a reader. When I buy a novel, it'll eventually ended up untouched for years. I tried to change my habits and somehow a thought popped up in mind. What is it like to read ? You might find this as a stupid question but I'm not joking. I asked myself that out of curiosity because everyone who are reading novels, are somehow different. I want to feel what they feel when reading a novel so I decided to try it myself. In an instant, I asked my friends to suggest me a novel that might spark an interest within me. Everyone has been talking about this trilogy at school, it is called, Divergent. I eagerly asked my father to buy me the trilogy and started reading a few lines of the novel. That few lines ended up being pages, and soon after, chapters. Without noticing, I finished the whole book. Lets start talking about this so called novel.

I really recommend this trilogy to those who are called novel lovers or might as well be a newbie like me. The story tells you about a young girl named Beatrice Prior who's society is divided into 5 factions These 5 factions are made up of people of 5 distinct characters or personality. The first would be Amity, a peace loving faction who are cheerful by nature and lives outside of the wall of the city. They wear red and yellow, bright and cheerful colours I must say. Second would be Dauntless, a fierce and brave faction from which the people are mostly adrenaline junkies. They wear black attires fitted with piercings and tattoos. Third would be Abnegation, this faction, I must say, is full of selfless people. They prefer to put others' needs first than their own. They wear modest clothes and are grey in colour. Forth would be Candor, a faction full of honest people. "Dishonesty is rampant, Dishonesty is temporary, Dishonesty makes evil possible", this is a line from their manifesto. They prefer honesty than lies. I'm not quite sure why. They wear black and white clothing. Last but not least, the one I hate the most would be Erudite. This faction is full of knowledge seeking people, not worth to hate you say ? You should read the novel and find out why. They wear blue as the colour blue has something to do with boosting the brain's capabilities to function well. Every child, by the age of 16, will go through an aptitude test to know which faction do they belong to. They have a choice to stay with their original faction or transfer to the designated faction based on the results of the aptitude test. There is a line, "Faction before blood", which means your loyalty towards your faction should be a priority and to those who refused, will be called out as betrayers. They will be either factionless or killed. Divergent on the other hand, is a term to those who acquire more than 1 result from the aptitude test. This group of people are unpredictable due to their nature. Only they can control themselves. Simulations of any kind will not work on them. This is the main reason why Divergence are dangerous. You should read the novel to know what happens next. It'll take me a long time to explain one by one.

This is indeed, a very nice trilogy. I really recommend this to you.

If it was up to me, I'd choose dauntless. But probably 80% of us counts as divergent because our personalities are mixed up. We don't have ONE specific dominant personality in us. Maybe some of you do, but not me.

Thanks for reading, enjoy your book.
